It is also the time of year when I allow myself plenty of indulgences!
Pumpkin Spice Lattes
Spiced pumpkin cider
Pumpkin seed chips
Pumpkin coffee creamer
Pumpkin shandy (as in, Jack-o Traveler, the dark side of shandy!!)
And that’s what I have had since the first day of Fall!
In the past I have also had Pumpkin Cheerios, Pumpkin pancakes, Pumpkin oatmeal, Pumpkin poptarts, Pumpkin chapstick, Pumpkin bread, Pumpkin butter, Pumpkin-scented candles and many other delights that friends have generously given me, knowing my proclivity for the big orange squash!
I know many people can’t stand all this pumpkin business. And I do have to admit that it has gotten a wee bit out of hand! However, I have my favorites (and I try some new things each year) and I look toward September and October with great delight for all the flavors of fall that I can manage!
We have tried a variety of pumpkin beers over the years, not liking most of them. We bought a new one the other day and it awaits us in our fridge right now. It will also have some notes of coffee, so I think we will try it with a sweet treat!
All throughout the year, I use canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling) in my overnite oats (mixed with cinnamon, steel cut oats, dried cranberries, almond milk, chia seeds and protein powder) and my smoothies (almond milk, protein powder, cinnamon, a little water to thin it out).
I also have a Harvest Power Muffin recipe, where I change up the ingredients depending on what I have on hand. I will sub canned pumpkin for banana and/or applesauce (which is in place of oil).
And I have been known to have a little pumpkin “problem”….
this was my Sincere Pumpkin Patch a few years back!
Waiting for The Great Pumpkin!
At our home in Indiana, which we named Harvest Moon House.
Happy “All Things Pumpkin” Season!
